Activities
How do we work?
Through educational programme and various therapies, we impart basic life skills
to improve the growth of the M.R. Children. We run vocational training centre
for the children above 18 years to train and develop their creative and
constructive abilities and to make them self sufficient. With the short term
programme for mothers of M.R. Children, we try to train them to understand
problems of M.R. Children and proper nourishment of their children.
Therapies
Ankur offers education and training of skills development through various methods like Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Games and Sports, Music therapy etc.
Vocational Training Centre
VTC is meant for children above age 18. Total number of students is 25. They
are given exposures of various simple processes of making products like envelops, bags, candles, files, folders, pouches, key-chains, post-bags etc. Profit
generated is distributed to the children as a small support to make them
independent.
Teachers’ Training College
Ankur also runs RCI recognised diploma in special education prog of two years
through Teachers’ Training College to become special educator in the field of
M.R. schools.
Rehabilitation work
At Ankur, we have been inviting small scale industry and business to offer placements to students of Vocational Training Centre. Besides, rehab works are
undertaken by P.N.R. Society for all associate NGOs as a whole.
Medical camps
Every year, free medical camps are organised for dental checkups, general health
checkups, eyes checkups etc. Prominent specialist doctors of the city give extend their services for the benefits of the school children.
Annual Celebrations and Events
A grand annual programme is organised every year in public auditorium. School children perform and present various cultural items which truly reflect their improvements and development. Donors, govt. officers, parents, teachers and prominent personalities of the city are invited in the function.
Publications
School has published many informative and awareness-generating booklets, folders and pamphlets in the subject areas of mental retardation and disability for the benefits of parents, public and visitors. These publications are distributed free of cost by the school.
