Disabled women of rural India face many struggles for their lifetime especially when they are from lower income families. They want to earn to support their families, but they do not have the required skills or resources. Keeping their struggles and aspirations in mind, in 2016, the Dalal Family Foundation USA started ‘Jyotiben Dalal Disabled Women Empowerment Center’ commemorating Nayanbhai’s mother. Here the disabled women are trained in sewing, knitting, embroidery, beauty parlour and hand-aided industry. More than 200 disabled women have participated in this project and have become self-reliant. Sewing machines, beauty parlour kits and tricycles have been supplied to at least 50 of the disabled women. It is gratifying to mention that the Dalal Family Foundation (USA) is providing contribution of Rs. 10 lakhs every year for Bhavnagar and Shihor Centers where this project is going on.
Established in 2016, Smt. Jyotiben Dalal disabled women empowerment center aimed at improving the lives of disabled women and aiding them to become self-reliant. The training center provides skill-based trainings like beauty parlor training and sewing machine work.
PNR society believes that no disability should ever prevent a person from earning a livelihood. Noticing the lack of opportunities for uneducated women to be more self-sustaining, PNR society aids in women empowerment at both the Natraj campus in Bhavnagar and the neighboring villages.
