The Institute was Established on 6th January 1932. This 75 Years old Blid School is the only School in Bhavnagar District which is Imparting Education from Std. 1st to S.S.C. in whole of gujarat. The Credit of Imparting Co-Education to Blind Boys and Girls in whole of Gujarat goes to this School. More than 100 Students are Educated and Trained in Carpentry, Smithy, Canning, Plastic Moulding, Armature Winding, Music etc. After Primary Training in Mobility and Braille Script the Students are Provided with Braille Books, Audio Cassettes and as a Result, Many Students, after Passing S.S.C. have Passed 12th and have become Graduates and even have Obtained Post-Graduate and B.Ed. Degrees. Moreover, as Blind have Natural Gift of Music, Right From Primary Trainning in Music They are Trained up to Graduate level (Visharad) in Music. They are also Trained to Operate Modern Musical Instruments. Many Students of this School, now give their Individual Programmes.

District Branch of National Association for the Blind is also Actively Working in this School for Prevention of Blindness ans Rehabilitation of the Disabled in the District under the Integrated Education Scheme. More than 600 Villages are Benefitted by this Project.
