Date: January 01, 2006

WHO estimates that more than 80,000 babies are born disabled each year because their mothers contract Rubella (German Measles). This vaccine is not routinely administered in developing countries like India.
Young girls of 13 to 35 years are administered rubella vaccine to prevent birth of children with disability. High intensity awareness programmes are undertaken. Participation from schools, colleges and communities has been overwhelming.

Awareness programme covered 3,04,986 people.

Total vaccination from 2002 to 2014 : 1,29,609
